In one line :
With AI by your side, you can make a game all on your own
The Game Everyone Dreams of Making
I suspect every developer has thought at least once, “I’d love to make a game of my own.” I’ve loved games since I was a kid, and even after becoming a developer, I’ve held on to a vague dream of “Maybe someday I’ll make a game.”
But I always figured it wouldn’t be easy. Game development is work that demands expertise in completely different fields all at once: design, art, sound, programming, and balancing. Pulling all of that off alone was close to impossible.
Making Game Development Real
This book pairs that vague dream with a powerful teammate called AI. As you follow along — creating assets with ChatGPT, writing code with Codex, and even generating music with Lami.ai — you start to feel that you really could make a game on your own.

Experiencing the Game Development Process with AI
The heart of this book isn’t just teaching you how to use AI tools. Its biggest value is that you get to experience the entire game development pipeline from start to finish.
Ideation → planning → prototype → asset creation → implementation → testing → release: you go through every stage of real game development one by one and finish a roguelike game.
The Right AI Service for Each Job
What impressed me about the book is that it puts different AI tools exactly where they fit, depending on the role.
- ChatGPT : Generating graphic assets such as characters, monsters, and UI
- Codex : Generating Unity C# scripts and system code
- Lami.ai : Generating sound assets such as background music and sound effects
Rather than leaving everything to a single AI, combining AIs that specialize in each field felt like a realistic and practical approach.
One Step at a Time with Unity
The book consists of 5 Parts and 25 Chapters, and the difficulty ramps up naturally, step by step.
Part 1-2 | Preparation and Environment Setup
First, you lay down the planning stage: choosing a game genre, defining the concept, and designing the systems. Then you install Unity and learn the basic controls.
Part 3 | Collaborating with AI
You learn the characteristics of ChatGPT, Codex, and Lami.ai, and how to write effective prompts. In particular, how to prevent prompt drift and techniques for writing prompts for incremental improvement are useful not just for game development but for any field where you use AI.

> Learn how to use the right AI for each field
Part 4 | Game Development for Real
This is where the real game begins. You implement the core elements of the game one by one: the player character, attack system, monsters, health system, leveling up, skill upgrades, and the reward system. Every chapter repeats the cycle of asset generation → code generation → Unity Editor setup → testing, and that process itself let me experience a real game development workflow.

> It's fun watching the game come together piece by piece!
Part 5 | Building and Monetization
It even covers releasing the finished game on Steam or the Google Play Store and monetizing it with ads and in-app purchases. The fact that it doesn’t stop at development but carries on through release and operations should be a big help.
Final Thoughts
This one book gave me a glimpse of the overall game development process. Getting to experience everything from planning to release together with AI is the book’s biggest strength.
It made me feel that solo development is entirely possible with AI. Of course, AI doesn’t do everything perfectly, but through this book I came to feel firsthand that we’ve entered an era where, as long as you have an idea, you can take on any field.
What I Missed
Of course, there were some things I wished for. Because AI doesn’t always produce the same output, the results you get may differ from the book’s examples. (Maybe I just couldn’t find them…) The finished source code and assets aren’t provided separately, so there were points where it was hard to get unstuck or learn quickly.
I also felt that someone with no development experience at all might find parts of it difficult to follow. It would be good to study the supplementary topics mentioned in the book separately and move forward one step at a time.
