Mac/Windows에서 kind 설치하기

Linux/Mac
$ go install sigs.k8s.io/kind@v0.30.0
Windows
$ choco install kind

$ kind create cluster
Creating cluster "kind" ...
 ✓ Ensuring node image (kindest/node:v1.34.0) 🖼
 ✓ Preparing nodes 📦
 ✓ Writing configuration 📜
 ✓ Starting control-plane 🕹️
 ✓ Installing CNI 🔌
 ✓ Installing StorageClass 💾
Set kubectl context to "kind-kind"
You can now use your cluster with:

kubectl cluster-info --context kind-kind

Thanks for using kind! 😊

또한 CKA(Certified Kubernetes Administrator) 자격증 준비에도 많은 밑바탕이 된것 같습니다!

  • CKA(Certified Kubernetes Administrator)

About the Book

Introduction to Kubernetes Through Illustrations and Hands-On Practice
  • Title : Introduction to Kubernetes Through Illustrations and Hands-On Practice
  • Author : Aoi Takahashi
  • Publisher : Gilbut
  • For : Kubernetes beginners who already know Docker
  • In one line :
    Kubernetes you learn by studying concepts through cute comics and diagrams, then building, breaking, and fixing things yourself until it sticks!

The Kubernetes Learning Curve

Kubernetes is notorious for being hard to learn. In fact, I have Gilbut’s Learn Kubernetes in a Month of Lunches sitting at home for my Kubernetes studies, but it looked so thick and intimidating that I’d left it untouched. 😅

Kubernetes learning curve

> Kubernetes is notorious for being hard to learn

I started studying Kubernetes feeling just like Shiro, the spotted seal who stars in the book. The book is pitched at just the right difficulty for beginners, so it was an incredibly easy read!

Getting Started with Kubernetes the Easy Way

The book is basically aimed at readers who already know Docker to some extent. Still, with Kubernetes, even setting up an environment isn’t easy.

The book shows you how to easily build a Kubernetes cluster locally with kind (Kubernetes in Docker). Since it runs Kubernetes nodes inside Docker containers, you can study without a separate VM, which was really convenient.

Installing kind on Mac/Windows

The book also walks you through installing kind on Mac/Windows step by step. I could follow along quickly without any complicated setup.

Linux/Mac
$ go install sigs.k8s.io/kind@v0.30.0
Windows
$ choco install kind

Creating a Cluster with kind

A Kubernetes practice environment, ready with a single line!

$ kind create cluster
Creating cluster "kind" ...
 ✓ Ensuring node image (kindest/node:v1.34.0) 🖼
 ✓ Preparing nodes 📦
 ✓ Writing configuration 📜
 ✓ Starting control-plane 🕹️
 ✓ Installing CNI 🔌
 ✓ Installing StorageClass 💾
Set kubectl context to "kind-kind"
You can now use your cluster with:

kubectl cluster-info --context kind-kind

Thanks for using kind! 😊

Cute Comics and Diagrams

Another strength of this book is its cute comics and diagrams. Wherever Kubernetes concepts could get complicated or dull, a cute illustration or comic shows up and gives you a natural breather.

They aren’t just cute, either — they’re simple yet informative and get right to the point, which helped a lot with understanding the concepts. Having the complex Kubernetes architecture explained visually made it click right away.

Cute comics and diagrams

> Not just cute — the content is solid too!

Learning by Building, Breaking, and Fixing

This book doesn’t just explain concepts; it’s structured so that you learn by doing the hands-on work yourself. By repeatedly creating Pods, deliberately causing failures, and fixing them again, I got a feel for how Kubernetes works in my bones.

The “break it and fix it” part especially stood out. It was practical to experience ahead of time how to respond when problems come up in real work. I also think it laid a lot of groundwork for preparing for the CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certification!

Final Thoughts

This is a book I’d recommend to anyone just getting into Kubernetes. Instead of a heavy, thick reference book, start light with this one, get a feel for Kubernetes, and then move on to deeper study.

Next Steps

This book helped me get over my vague fear of Kubernetes. Now I finally have the courage to reopen Learn Kubernetes in a Month of Lunches, which I’d left sitting on the shelf!

  • Take another shot at Learn Kubernetes in a Month of Lunches
  • Go for the CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certification!
  • Apply Kubernetes to a real-world project

Thank you! 😊
